These concerns are two-fold: The large number of DE&I roles hired in the pandemic appears to be the target of many of these cuts (with these departments accounting for around two-thirds of the cuts), and in general, research has shown that underrepresented groups have been the most affected in previous mass layoffs. This blog looks into the rise and fall of the DE&I role, and the implications this has for underrepresented groups.

We also explore the distinction between the Bayesian and Frequentist approach to statistics, looking back at their origins before sharing how we use statistics to empower recruiters. For instance, frequentists think that probabilities represent long-running averages, whereas, Bayesians think that probabilities represent our level of certainty in a statement. This slightly arcane-sounding distinction can lead to vastly different maths and therefore different conclusions.
